THE CHILDREN’S SOCIETY AFTERNOON TEA—WEDNESDAY 1 MAY, 2-4pm  Afternoon tea with entertainment by Just Good Friends in the Church Hall. Admission by ticket £5 from Mary 315383, Chris 418399 or committee members. Proceeds to the Children’s Society.

SATURDAY NIGHT TAKEAWAY—11 MAY, 5.30-7.15pm  Exciting early evening event for families with junior school-aged children. Food, games, competitions, stories.  Don’t miss it!

FRIENDS of ST MARY’S      The Chair of the Trustees of Friends of St Mary’s, John Allen, is retiring in June. If anyone is interested in taking this on, or wants to know more about it, please contact John Allen on 652222.

CHRISTIAN AID LUNCHES      Thank you to everyone who donated to Christian Aid during our recent Lent Lunches. A total of £515.77 was raised. Thank you.

CRAFT & COFFEE (OR TEA)     A new craft group will start on Tuesday 2 July 2019 10.00-12.00. Watch this space for more details!

MAY GRAPEVINE     The May edition of Grapevine is now available at the back of church.

WEEKLY GIVING ENVELOPES     If you use the weekly giving envelopes, the new ones (which begin on 5 May) are on the table at the back of church. Please collect yours.

 GIFT AID PAYMENTS    From 6 April 2019 the income tax threshold will increase to £12,500. This could have implications on whether you continue to pay sufficient tax to cover your Gift Aid payments. If you have any queries please contact Bob Bates on 01933 358005.

CHURCH FETE—SATURDAY 8 JUNE, 2pm in the Church Grounds   There will be stalls selling Cakes, Plants, Books and the One Pound Stall. A variety of games will be played. Refreshments available in the Church Hall.  The charity stalls at the fete this year will The Royal British Legion and Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY). Proceeds will be split equally between St. Mary’s Church Mission Fund and The Church Storage Project. Entrance fee will be £1 per adult and children are free.

As we remember Christ’s death and resurrection during this Easter period, we are praying for worshippers to confidently share their faith so that those around can come to know Christ.

For local ministries: Pray for all the members of the Pastoral & Visiting teams, that the Holy Spirit will give them the strength to help with any situation they meet.

For our Partners in Mission : WYCLIFFE BIBLE TRANSLATORS   The Ngbugu translation team in the Central African Republic (CAR) are nearing completion of their New Testament translation. Pray that as they work to complete the translation, they will be inspired by the end goal of lives being transformed by God’s living word.

Lent lunches 12 noon    Lent Lunches will be served in the Church Hall each Wednesday during Lent followed by a time of meditation in the church . Donations for Christian Aid.

EASTER HOLIDAY CLUB—MONDAY TO WEDNESDAY 15-17 APRIL    Easter Holiday Club from 9.30am to 12 noon. Kids learn about Easter and have loads of fun! Cost is £15 (£5 per day) for the first child and £6 (£2 per day) for siblings.  Booking forms are now available at the back of church.  Contact Lynne on 01933 353655 or email lynne@lateralflow.co.uk for more details.  

HELP!   EASTER HOLIDAY CLUB    The children at Holiday Club will be making their own miniature gardens. If anyone has any dried or artificial flowers, small stones, little people or anything else you can think of we would be delighted to have them please. 

Agape—Thursday 18 April. 7pm    This special Maundy Thursday event takes place in the Church Hall sharing a meal together as we remember the Last Supper. Tickets now available at £4 each from Martin Compton and Jose Smith.

at the 9.30am service. Activity Bags for small children are available

—as well as emergency supplies — please ask at the back of church.

PRAYER: There is an opportunity for prayer, for yourself or others,

in the Pemberton Chapel between the morning services.

For our Partners in Mission : Church Army:Pray for the Selby Centre of Mission, based on a deprived estate in North Yorkshire where Church Army workers Richard Cooke and Amy Hayes seek to support the community with a drop-in on a converted double-decker bus.

Please pray for them as they provide emotional support, befriending and help with bereavement. Pray, too, for the Bus Stop Project providing young people with a space to explore faith and life issues.

VISIT BY MISSION PARTNERS: BRIAN AND VAL HODGKIN: 24 March   Our mission partners from Wycliffe Bible Translators—Brian and Val—will be joining us on 24 March for our morning services. SHOEBOX SUNDAY—18 NOVEMBER    You are welcome to bring shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child Shoebox    Appeal into church from 1st November. Please look on the website     www.samaritans-purse.org.uk   for information on how to fill in a shoebox (Find a shoebox, wrap and make a label; fill with gifts; make your donation of £5; personalise and pray for the person receiving your box; bring to church.) The final collection will be 9.30am 18th November.

PORTABLE APPLIANCE TESTING (PAT)—WEDNESDAY 31 OCTOBER Our contractor for PAT will be on site on Tuesday 31 October. All portable electrical items in church and halls will be checked. HARVEST THANK YOU’S   THANK YOU to all who decorated the church so beautifully for Harvest, to all who provided harvest gifts of food, flowers or finance, to the one who created the lovely posies to be given away, to all who helped on Monday #morning to take around the flower posies and the food to the food bank, and to the Lord of the Harvest who loves and sustains us all! £444.91 was collected for TearFund.  [If you brought your gifts in a basket and would like it returned   please collect it from the shelf under the bookstall.]

ENCS FAMILY FUN AFTERNOON SAT 13 OCT, FULL GOSPEL CHURCH, 2pm    Bouncy Castle, Snakes and Lizards from Noah’s Ark, and the usual stalls, as well as tea and biscuits there will also be burgers.

 

BANGERS AND BEETLES: SATURDAY 27 OCTOBER, CHURCH HALL 7pm     Join us for a Beetle Drive—a fun family event, with sausages and other refreshments raising money for our mission funds.    £3 adults; children half price. Prizes and refreshments!

JAZZ PLUS and SUPPER—SATURDAY 17 NOVEMBER 7.30pm    Friends of St Mary’s Concert: Jazz Plus with a Supper will be held in the Church Hall in November. More details still to come; tickets soon. All welcome.
