25 February 2018 2nd Sunday of Lent

In our morning services today we begin a new sermon series:

Hearing God’s voice: this week—Reading and Studying the Bible.

WELCOME: A warm welcome to anyone with us for the first time. Please make yourself known and ask for our introductory leaflet.

CHILDREN at the 9.30am service: Children (5-11 years old) begin the service in the church and go to Jiffy in the Church Hall after the Bible reading. There is also a crèche in the room under the tower and Activity Bags for small children are available —as well as emergency supplies —please ask at the back of church.

PRAYER: There is an opportunity for prayer, for yourself or others, in the Pemberton Chapel between the morning services.

THERE IS A LOOP SYSTEM in this church for the hard of hearing.

LENT LUNCHES—12 noon-1pm WEDNESDAY 28 FEBRAURY

Lent Lunches are being served in St Mary’s Church Hall from 12 noon to 1pm with a short devotion in the church for all who wish to attend at 1pm.

Women’s World Day of Prayer—2pm Park Rd Baptist Fri 2 March Everyone (men, women children) are welcome to attend this service at which we pray for women around the world.

TABLE TOP SALE—10am-12, church hall, Saturday 3 March

Tables £5 each – contact Edna 357253.  Offers of cakes for refreshments would be appreciated. Proceeds to Church Mission Fund and ENCS Recovery House.

ELECTORAL ROLL FORMS

A new Electoral Roll needs to be prepared this year. Everyone who wishes to be on it needs to fill in an enrolment form, which are at the back of the church. This is the last week to get your forms in before the Roll is written for the APCM.

GIVING RESPONSE FORMS—STEWARDSHIP

If you have not yet taken home an envelope about “Giving” please do so. Inside there is 1) a leaflet describing the Vision of our church; 2) a leaflet on giving and stewardship; 3) a Response Form. Please complete and return the Response Form over the next two weeks, evening if you are not changing your giving.

Our normal activities and services resume after the Christmas and New Year break.  Happy New Year!

*Short & Sweet is a service open to all but particularly hoping to serve people with additional needs.  Half an hour of worship in church is followed by half an hour of activities and refreshments in the Church Hall.

Short and Sweet

Short and Sweet

This new worship service is specifically aimed at people with additional needs at St Mary’s each Sunday from 2.00pm to 3.00pm.  There will be a 20-30 minute service in church followed by 30 minutes of activities and refreshments in the church hall.

Short and Sweet are taking a break for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.  We will be back on 7th January at 2.00pm – see you then!

7pm. AGAPE —  Our annual Maundy Thursday Agape – a meal within Holy Communion – will be held in the Church Hall, serving a light supper. Tickets £4 from Martin Compton and Jacquie White.

9.30 Contemporary All Age Service for an hour

2.00 Hour at the the Cross, with readings, prayers and reflections on Good Friday.

6.00 pm The Big Sing – Easter Praise with a selection of traditional and contemporary Hymns and songs chosen by members of our congregation.
