Thank you, Father, for the rapid recovery of Colin’s brother Robert, taken to hospital suddenly ill last week with an infection, but now home and recovering.

perspective

Thank you, God, for the wonderful gift of sight. I was out this sunny afternoon when I came across a flock of sheep with their lambs lying sheltering in the shade below a group of hawthorns all thickly laden with blossom— a miraculously beautiful thing.     Richard

Thank you, Father God,
for the life of Ravi Zacharias (1946 – 2020) –
a wonderful Christian apologist – though that doesn’t seem quite the right word for such a positive present and defender of Christianity.           Richard Toosey

“I came to Him because I did not know which way to turn.
I remained with Him because there is no other way I wish to turn.
I came to Him longing for something I did not have.
I remain with Him because I have something I will not trade.
I came to Him as a stranger.
I remain with Him in the most intimate of friendships.
I came to Him unsure about the future.
I remain with Him certain about my destiny.
I came amid the thunderous cries of a culture that has 330 million deities.
I remain with Him knowing that truth cannot be all-inclusive.”

Ancient Israel’s Cosmology

‘Proper interpretation of the Bible requires an understanding of the original context in which it was written. This is particularly true for the ot. God chose a specific time, place, and culture in which to inspire faithful persons to produce what we read in the ot: the ancient Mediterranean and the ancient Near East of the second and first centuries bc. Understanding their worldview leads to more faithful understandings on our part, as misreadings result from assuming the biblical writers thought, believed, and acted as we do.’
